Despite a very wet and weather affected Friday, the weekend at the Grampians proved to be a great weekend. The new WhatsApp group created specifically for the weekend, offered lots of advice, support, info about wet roads, places to eat, places to go and shoot, and photo sharing. It proved to be an affective way to communicate to the whole group. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Friday night dinner was at the edge of town, at the Halls Gap Hotel. Some people forgot to book tsk tsk, but Gayle managed to rearrange tables to accommodate the naughty kids.

Saturday was virtually rain free. The earlier rain ensured the creeks and waterfalls were all flowing. Even though the trek to get to them made may have been a tad slippery and muddy.

The proposed Saturday sunrise at Boroka had the SES tending to fallen trees by 6am, so the road was not accessible. A few of us went to Lake Bellfield to watch the sun come up. One person even had a swim there – Andrea Sparks. Andrea swam both mornings, which ended her goal to swim every day for a month for Daffodil Day. I’ve added the link. Lunch was either in town or at the Pomonal Estate Winery, which proved to be picturesque and delicious.  Saturday arvo was busy and we certainly added to our step tally. Mackenzie Falls, Lake Bellfield, Venus Bath Falls were just a few of the spots the group went exploring with tripods and loaded backpacks full of shoot ready gear.

Dinner Saturday night was at the Kookaburra Hotel, where we had a booking of 40! The Stawell Camera Club were invited to join us. KJ is good friends with a few of them, The meals were lovely, the room was warm and the conversations lively. A nice and interesting gathering.

Sunday was another adventure sunrise. NOT hahaha.
A few of us went to Boroka lookout. At least the road was mostly cleared of any major debris. But, the fog was so thick, there was nothing to look out to. We made the most of the situation by taking more group selfie shots. Surprise, surprise lol.

More photo opportunities were to be had after brekky and a decent coffee in town. Some of us went to Hearthlie Quarry, which provided more opportunities for group selfies lol.

In the words of Matt Peart – ‘We had a lovely time. Good food and good company. It makes a difference to be with other like-minded interests to share the experience
